About:

A FREE event for any Hub member.

When first learning about PDA, people naturally assume that therapy is an essential element for recovery.

In this live Brook shares how the PDA community reports challenges built into therapy that make it hard to benefit from, which then begs the question... is therapy appropriate as a first-level support, and are there therapeutic approaches that are more accessible to the sensitive PDA nervous system?

PDA is strictly demand avoidance... Right?

During this live Brook asks: what if in order to avoid demands some adults and children have instincts to fiercely conquer it to extinguish the threat?

In Brook's experience working with PDA families the last 5 years she shares how a trend emerged of PDA families with members who seem to need the same low-pressure, low-demand supports as their avoidant family members but instead of chronically and creatively AVOIDING demands they are driven to complete them, leading to the same dysregulation and eventual burnout.

Brook has coined this "type A" PDA which she believes will help identify struggling PDA people hiding within a society that rewards productivity.
